Meet the Artist

I'm Kate, my background has been mostly in film studies, creative writing and publishing. Slebog and co. came about almost on accident after I moved to Glasgow in 2022. Every piece of jewellery has been lovingly handcrafted by myself.

None of this would be possible without all the  support from my partner, Cairan, our sidekicks, Pumpkin and Babooshka, and my family and friends.

The Story of Slebog and co.

Slebog and co. began in in March 2023 with a single beaded berry. I taught myself bead-weaving and the first pair of earrings I made were a pair of raspberries. The pieces I make are heavily inspired by my love of British woodland, nature and folklore. I have deep love of stories and I try to weave something of that into every piece.

Growing up in North Wales, I spent my summers outside blackberry picking and decoding the runes in Dragonology: The Complete Guide with my friends next-door. More importantly, I went to Welsh-language primary and secondary school which gave me plenty of time to pick all the bad Welsh swear words. Which, if you know, is where the name 'Slebog' comes from.

I use a combination of Czech Preciosa and Japanese Miyuki glass beads to make my pieces, either woven with wire, nylon or beading thread.
